V6 - Sexy.Honey.Bunny! Concert in Sapporo - September 24, 2011
It took about a week from receiving the Johnny's International Email announcing the V6 concerts for me to decide, "F*ck it, I'm going to put my name in and see what happens." And about a week later, I hit! I was super ecstatic that I couldn't contain myself.
Usually I plan my trips way ahead in advance but this time I said I'll be more spontaneous. I mean 2 weeks prior kind of spontaneous. My boyfriend, who's the bestest ever, said he would come with me. I originally only wanted to stay the weekend, but he convinced me to take off a few more days from work. I only had to miss one class since the other day was a conversion day due to the Jewish holidays. It was like it's meant to be that I go to Japan XD.
This is my first ever Johnny's concert so I don't know anything about how it works. We came in really early around 3:30 PM and saw this long-ass line for the concert goods stand. Apparently the doors don't open until 5:30 PM. So we decided to fall in line anyway, with my boyfriend trying to figure what the others were doing once they bought their goods. He came back and said, "Nothing, they don't fall in line they just disperse to nowhere." I was a little bit confused but I went ahead and bought an Okada uchiwa, the super cute penlight, and the panda cup. By the time I was done buying we had about an hour to kill, so we hung around bit by the entrance doors next to other V6 fans. It was pretty funny watching other fans. My very American boyfriend watched in amazement since there were females of ALL ages--from teens to middle-aged women. Yeah. In the U.S. it's very rare to have that kind of demographic watching "boy band" (although V6 is really not a boy band per se).
We got hungry and ordered katsu kare in the cafe inside. We killed more time by walking around the stadium.
There were a bunch of students around. I think it was an archery tournament going on (I was reminded so much of that really funny Gakkou e Ikkou! episode when Okada and Go went on horseback archery lol).
So by the time we got back, there was a long line already to get into the concert hall. We went to the Johnny's International line which was shorter thankfully. I was expecting Johnny's International to have an English speaking staff so I was a little disappointed that they didn'tt. When I got my tickets, lo and behold it was all in Japanese. I have no idea how to read the thing. So I approached an usher. He said it's the arena and we had to go down. We went down and saw another girl and pointed the way. I recognized that it was the hiragana blocks in the arena, so that I can kind of figure out. However just to be sure, I went to ask another usher, who thankfully spoke a bit of English. He led us to what looked like the backstage since it had black curtains that was under the stage walkway but it was really only towards the doors close to backstage. It was soooo close to the stage. I mean I was sitting close to the stairs where they would exit for costume change (at one point of the concert, I could hear Ken yelling behind me behind the curtains lol).
But there was a catch: the row our seats were supposed to be at was not there!
I noticed another girl had the same issue. To the credit of the staff, they were able to add another row immediately (these are the folding chairs) and they kept saying sorry to us. I said it's okay so we sat down in our awesome seats. Next to me the chair was empty but the girl that sat next to that was another Johnny's International fan from Taiwan. She got the commemorative card which I wasn't able to get. I kind of wished I did but I'm okay that I didn't.
Anyway, finally 6:30 PM hits and the lights go out. Everyone stands up and I do the same. And to my right comes up Inocchi! Kakkoii!! Lol. He looks a lot younger and skinnier that close. Very exciting stuff.
I can't be as detailed as others with concert reports but it was just so awesome. So awesome I want to watch another concert next year XD.
Ken, Inocchi, and Masa I think had the BEST stage presence. Like they really enjoyed being on stage. Ken is super adorable lol I wish I got his uchiwa instead of Junichi's XD but it's all right. Inocchi sounded kind of hoarse too. Masa is really handsome. Nagano is very good looking too. Go looks the same as I see him on screen! Lol. Okada is gorgeous, but I think he's so small! >_<
My favorite songs: Will, OK, Break the Wall, Sexy Honey Bunny, Air, days, Supernova (really just the song itself and the pyrotechnics--I thought the pole dancing was kind of weird though sorry if I'm going against the grain on this), Yorokobi no Uta, Ken's Solo, and Mission of Love.
I had a really awesome time. My bf was a trooper although he sat the whole time (he's a metal head--we came from the Big 4 concert in Yankee Stadium a week before which I'll admit was a better concert lol but V6 is right after them). I'm just glad we were able to be together throughout the trip.
Some side notes:
Since my boyfriend and I are both baseball fans and we like to hit up as much baseball stadiums as we can, we saw the Nippon Ham-fighters the next day. On our way back to the hotel, since our train was passing the stop for Kitayell, we stopped because I really wanted to buy the Panda bag lol. I wanted to sneak into the concert again but of course that's not possible. I got my bag and we headed back to the hotel.
We spent a day in Tokyo since I have relatives there but I just fell in love with Sapporo. We stayed 4 days at a hotel close to Nakajima Koen, a beautiful park by the Namoboku(?) green line. I know it gets covered in snow during the winter but it's so pretty and clean! Tokyo is way too urban for me (kind of like how NYC is to me here) while Sapporo has a good mix of both urban and suburban.
I want to go back!
